Hey, I'm Matt.

I’m a former college head baseball coach. Now I help high school players find their best fit for playing college baseball.I've helped over 100 players navigate the recruiting process since 2021.

A player I know spent $774 going to a college camp. Here was the breakdown:

  • Camp Fee = $300

  • Gas = $189

  • Hotel = $129

  • Food = $156

He felt good about how he performed. He sent a thank you email to the coaching staff the day after the camp.No response. He sent another email a week later asking for feedback from the camp.No response. He sent a third email a few weeks later to follow up.No response. He got the message:They weren't interested. He spent $774 with nothing to show for it. Not even an evaluation from the coaching staff. Some players attend camps and/or showcase like this 10-15 or more times throughout their high school years.Imagine going to 12 camps/showcases at $774 a pop without anything to show for it.That's $9288 down the drain!I'm here to tell you:There IS a better way.

"CAA- contacted us in our sons freshman year of high school. We met with Matt Schirm via google meet for a free consult. Matt helped Nolan with a checklist of goals. He then gave Nolan an honest evaluation of his skills and shared with him what he needed to work on so he could be successful. This included honest conversations about school, physical and mental work.We can not say enough wonderful things about Matt. He had honest, hard conversations with our son and helped him navigate the recruiting process. He met with Nolan regularly and made sure emails, and texts were being attended to. Matt came to watch Nolan play in several settings to make sure Nolan had updated video of his skills. My husband and I were able to step back and let Matt help Nolan in a way that allowed us to just be parents. When speaking with other people about CAA, I share with them that the best thing that has come from this experience is not a scholarship opportunity but Nolans ability to navigate life skills for his future after baseball. Matt has been a key part in making Nolan a better person, communicator and advocate for himself. Thanks CAA,
J.R. Grawe (mother of Nolan)

"CAA and Matt Schirm have been the single most influential part of my recruitment process from the minute we began with the company. Matt took each section of the process and showed me the ins and outs, guiding me through everything. My family and I are very grateful for everyone involved with CAA and thank them all for their efforts." - CAA Player

HOW DOES THE CAA PROCESS WORK?

Here is the EXACT process I will guide you through to find your best fit for playing college baseball:

Step 1: Create an Online Profile

Using CAA’s intuitive online platform, you will fill out a series of online forms so we can gather all the information college coaches will want to see (and ONLY the information that coaches want to see…no fluff). This includes:

  • Personal Information

  • Skills Videos

  • Game Footage

  • Metrics

  • Varsity Stats

  • Academic Information

  • References

  • Schedules

You will easily be able to edit this information as you grow and improve throughout your recruiting journey. The CAA platform contains text and videos to walk you through this process step-by-step, but I will be available for any questions you have.

Step 2: Evaluation of Skills/Metrics

Once your profile is complete, AT LEAST five CAA advisors (all former college coaches) will evaluate your videos. You will receive feedback about your strengths and areas of improvement in a number of areas. We evaluate the following for pitchers:

  • Velocity

  • Change-Up

  • Breaking Ball

  • Pitchability

  • Performance

  • Size

  • Mechanics

  • Movement/Life

  • Command

And for position players:

  • Hitting for Average

  • Hitting for Power

  • Arm Strength

  • Defense

  • Speed

  • Performance

  • Size

You will receive a 1-8 ranking from each advisor for each category and an average ranking for each category.Essentially we are evaluating your “skill” and “metrics/stats” to ultimately project the level or levels of college baseball that fit YOU best.A parent of one of our players told us that our evaluation alone is worth $500!What you SHOULD NOT expect in the evaluation:SUGARCOATING!I’m not going to tear you down, but I AM going to be honest. If you’re not a D1 prospect, the evaluation will make this clear (along with the reasons why). This is how we build credibility with our players and parents AND college coaches throughout the country. Coaches know we aren’t going to promote players to them who are way below their level. The evaluation typically takes a week, then I will meet with you to answer any questions you have. During this meeting, I will also guide you through the next step:

Step 3: What "Values" Are Most Important?

After answering any questions about the evaluation, I will guide you through a “Values List” exercise to help you determine which factors are the MOST important for YOU as you’re searching for your best fit for playing college baseball. The “values” cover both athletic AND non-athletic categories:

  • Development

  • Academics

  • Playing Time

  • Campus Life

  • Etc.

This is a critical part of the process because your values will indicate which schools are likely the best fit.Imagine two players who have equal metrics and skills coming out of high school. Both players want to play college baseball.Player A wants to be a brain surgeon. The quality of the pre-med program is his top priority.Player B wants to play professional baseball. Athletic development is his top priority.Although they have equal ability, different colleges will be the best fit for each player. The COMBINATION of your evaluation and values list will help us work together target the CORRECT schools FOR YOU!

Step 4: Determine Target Schools

Next, you’ll make a “favorites” list including as many colleges as possible that COULD be a good fit based on your evaluation and values list. It’s CRITICAL to cast a wide net to make sure schools don’t fall through the cracks.Your personal CAA dashboard will include a “College Search” tool, enabling you to filter and research any college baseball program in the country easily and quickly. You can filter schools by:

  • State

  • Region

  • Distance from home

  • Size

  • and More

See a school you like? Then click the “Add To Favorite” button to add the school to your list of target schools.Once we get your target schools squared away, the real FUN begins!

Step 5: Promotion To Target Schools

The next step is getting your information in front of college coaches to determine who has interest. This step is all of the following:Exciting. Confusing. Disappointing. It’s exciting when coaches express legitimate interest. It’s confusing when coaches respond to your messages, but don’t give a clear answer about their interest level. It’s disappointing when coaches say they’re not interested. It’s important to expect to hear “no” a lot.Luckily, I will be there for you to help you through ALL these emotions! We promote our players (and teach you to promote yourself) in a variety of ways:

  • Introductory Emails (sent through our online platform)

  • Personal Emails (sent from your personal email address)

  • Social Media (click here for an article I wrote about best practices for promoting yourself through social media).

  • Advisor Contacts (ME reaching out to coaches for you)

  • CAA Network (ME using my own network of college coach connections AND the networks of our other advisors to help YOU increase your options)

  • CAA Coaches App (college coaches can use the app to filter through our players based on their needs).

  • CAA Website (we post your information on our website, which is free for college coaches to view)

I will coach you through ALL of these promotion strategies to make sure we’re on the right track to maximizing your options for playing in college.

Step 6: Narrow Your Options

As I mentioned above, casting a wide net INITIALLY is a great strategy. But KEEPING a wide net is difficult. We want to narrow your options fairly quickly so you can can take a deep dive into just a handful of schools. Here’s how the process works:

  • Introduce yourself to 100+ schools that COULD be a good fit.

  • Narrow the list quickly to ONLY the schools who express interest.

  • Narrow the list further to the schools that show the MOST interest.

  • Narrow the list further to the schools YOU are most interested in (probably no more than 5 schools)

  • Take a deep dive with your research into your top schools.

This process could take anywhere from several years (if you’re starting really early) to 1-2 months (if you’re starting really late). The best part:I will be with you every step of the way to advise you through the process, help you compare schools, and answer ANY questions that arise.

Step 7 - Commit to YOUR Best Fit!

The final step is the easiest (and the most FUN)!If you work hard (with my help) at the process I’ve outlined above, you’ll have A LOT of confidence that the school you commit to IS truly your best fit. Then all that’s left to do is call the head coach and offer your commitment! This is a fun conversation!

IS THERE A GUARANTEE?

I offer TWO guarantees:

  • If you follow my advice, you WILL have options for playing college baseball.

  • I will work as hard as I can to HELP you find your best fit.

I WISH I could guarantee a full scholarship to your dream school! But I can’t. Nobody can. We wary of anyone who says otherwise.I can’t force college coaches to recruit you, but here’s what I CAN help you find out if a scholarship to your dream school is even a remote possibility. If it’s not, then I will help you find your BEST FIT for playing college baseball (using the process detailed above).NOTE: For the overwhelming majority of college baseball players, their best fit is NOT their dream school. If you need some confidence, here’s some experiences from previous players/parents:

READY TO GET STARTED? HOLD ON A MINUTE.

If you're interested in working with me, I need to meet with you first. Why?Because I don't work with everyone.I need to look you in the eye, get to know you, ask you some questions, and make sure you're serious about finding your best fit for playing college baseball. When we meet, I will cover our cost and next steps if it's a good fit for both us us.Our fee depends on a number of factors that we will discuss in the meeting, but will be a four-figure number. We do A LOT for our players and only want to work with players/families who are serious about our process (don't worry...we will save you a lot of money throughout the process, so our fee will pay for itself).Click the button below to schedule a Zoom meeting with me.
